Tuesday 9th - Wednesday 10th April... Day 2 … Dubai to Rome

After a long 14 hours plane trip from Sydney we finally landed in Dubai with a lot of people lacking sleep and showing red eyes from continuously watching the screens on the plane.  With three and a half hours to spare many went to the well-known McDonald’s in search of free Wi-Fi, unfortunately they were unsuccessful, so food was eaten instead.
After a few minutes waiting for some students and Mrs Hayes we were on our way to boarding and preparing ourselves for another six hour plane trip ahead. As there was not much to do on the plane a card game amongst some of the students kept many entertained.  Come one thirty we finally arrived in Europe, reaching our first destination, Rome.
A hectic rush through the airport and we arrived at the train station ready to head off to our hotel where we were desperate to finally have a shower and freshen up.  Once everyone got to their rooms and had freshened up we went to meet in the common room ready to head off and look around the streets.
The first thing we were off to see was the Santa Maria Degli Angeli an old church that was HUGE. Inside the church we were free to walk around and notice differences that we would not see in churches back home. The church had paintings and statues on all walls and the entire floor was marble. At this church there was a pendulum to represent the work that Galileo had done relating to time.
After wondering around the church we had a quick photo out the front showing the large piazza and the fountain behind us, once this was done we headed off to finally have some dinner.
Dinner consisted of three courses including; spaghetti carbonara, veal and salad and mimosa cake left us all very full and many ready for bed.
Finally arriving back at the hotel after a very long day behind us-  most of us in bed by 7:30 and ready for the next day.
