Our day began with an early morning breakfast at 6:15am!! This was followed by an unnerving bus ride into the Florence train station. We then embarked on our train ride to Pisa Centrale (train station). From there we trekked by foot to the Piazza dei Miracole (Square of miracles), where we were amazed to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa just around the corner!
After a quick refuelling session the brave climbed the tower which stands at 58.36 metres above the ground and enjoyed the surrounding view. We then made our way into the Pisa cathedral, where we saw many interesting artefacts such as beautiful paintings and sculptures and the odd skeleton or two.
After this we enjoyed some free time to explore the square, browse the stalls and have lunch. The scenic extended route was then taken back to the train station, where we caught another train back to Florence. Back in Florence we were allowed time to explore the centre of town and browse the leather markets.
For dinner, we caught another bus to a restaurant where we were treated to Pasta with Fish Sauce, Fish and Potatoes with Peas and Crème Brulee.
It was a very exciting day, with many adventures had and many lessons learned.
